Input……

Input: 1. what is put in, taken in, or operated on by any process or system.  2. a place where, or a device through which, energy or information enters a system.

So, a few weeks ago…maybe like a month, my mom was in town and she stayed at my house.  One evening, she wanted to watch a movie.  Now, I have both  DVD and VHS players (yes I still own a VHS player…like 3 of them…) but she wanted to watch a DVD.  The player was already connected…it’s one of those duel players (you know…with both a VHS and DVD?)…and I’d had no problem operating it before.  I put the movie in and changed the channel, like I ALWAYS  do, and pressed play…nothing happened.  NOTHING.  I turned on the VHS and it worked perfectly fine and then I tried changing to a regular television station and that worked as well.  I tried a couple different things before we decided to give up and she would watch something else.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I wanted to watch a movie and remembered that I couldn’t get my DVD player to work.  I turned it on and pushed play and began to study my remote (it’s one of those universal remotes).  I had, at least I thought I had, pressed EVERY button there but I noticed the “input” button.  Of course, the button had been there all along but I suppose I hadn’t noticed it or thought to push it like I did every other button present.  So….I pushed it and ‘TA DA’…my movie was playing through my television set.

As usual, I’m sure you’re trying to figure out my point.  Well…..here it is…..many of us have ALL  the “buttons”, if you will, we need in order to “connect” or function.   We have a work button, a family button, a busy button, so on and so forth, but God is our ‘input’ button.  Often, we push EVERY button but the one we need…the ‘input’ button.  I learned that the input button causes information to pass through to a system or from my DVD player to my TV.  Having the remote did me no good until I pressed the proper button.  If I don’t push that button…no movie.  So, think of it like this, our lives are like big remotes.   Life won’t go right until we press into God…His presence.  We need it EVERYDAY!  When you choose to use those other buttons, sure, you can move about your day but how does it REALLY go?  He has all the answers and information we need in order to survive.  Remember, the movie wasn’t visible or heard until I pressed that button.  Without our input button, without God, we get a blank screen….nothing…no sound…and our vision SUCKS!  NO sound…NO picture…..!!!  Note that you cannot survive if you can’t “see” or “hear”.  Just like that remote button caused my television to give me what I needed, God gives us what we need when we “use” Him.

“The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them.” Proverbs 20:12

Please…use your INPUT button!

Love you all,
