Sooooo….I’m up reading my bible today…..this morning God instructed me to read Matthew chapter 2. Okay, so, I begin reading and wonder, maybe I heard Him wrong, maybe He said Mark chapter two…you know…where He healed a man and then they talked about fasting? Cause….why am I reading about baby Jesus; He clearly responds telling me that HE SAID Matthew 2, and that’s what I am to read! So I get to reading!
Okay…in Matthew chapter 2, Herod sought to kill baby Jesus. He even went so far as to tell the three wise men to disclose the child’s location so that he may go and “worship Him”…..just lyin (vs. 8). Now, soon after the 3 wise men left where Jesus was (heading home on an alternate route), Herod realized that he’d been duped and that those wise men were much wiser than he’d anticipated. You see, an angel of the Lord let them know that Herod didn’t want to worship baby Jesus, but he wanted to kill him. So, cause he was all mad and stuff, Herod had all the children in Bethlehem killed…ages 2 and under…you know…with the expectation that Jesus was there. But NOPE! He wasn’t because an angel came to Joseph and told him to GET MY JESUS OUT OF THERE! (vs. 13) WHOA!!!
My point??? Well, glad you wanna know!!! 😉
You see, so many times, we get the “urge” or “feel led” to go away from where we are. Sometimes, we even ignore that urgency that we feel and end up in situations that we’d rather not be in. There are times when these feelings seem to be inconveniences to us and disrupt our “plans” so we decide that we will stay planted right where we are; this could be a home, job, church, city, or a relationship. We stay…we get stuck…we beg for a way out.
What we gotta realize is that God makes ways of escape for us…just like the escape to Egypt for baby Jesus. But, He ALWAYS instructs BEFORE things go wrong! God gives specific instructions so His way out is never confusing but it gets us where we need to be. “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13) And He also hides us so that those out destroy us cannot find us. Herod would have loved to get hold of Jesus, but He was hidden. And just as He was hidden in Egypt…we are hidden in Him. “For in the time of trouble he shall hid me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.” (Psalms 27:5)
So, the next time you feel the urgency to move…..DO IT! The next time you are “relocated” and feel inconvenienced, but God “okayed” it…allow Him to settle you. He did it for a reason so don’t get all bent out of shape. The next time they “let you go”, be okay with it! Remember, in the Bible, every time God “relocated” His people, it was to LITERALLY save their lives. Know that when God moves you, it is sometimes so that those that are out to get you cannot destroy your dreams or slay your confidence. Sometimes, it’s so that you are not apart of the destruction to come. Yes, we are often moved so that we can “flourish and grow” but sometimes it’s just so we don’t get “killed”. You never what God is saving your from. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT GOD IS SAVING ME FROM! ( Sorry…that was a “me” moment)
“Trust in the Lord with all thin heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5
Okay…until next time…love y’all!
