Have you ever felt forgotten? Forgotten by those that you expected to remember you..care for you…think of you? Okay…I don’t mean literally like, as in memory, but figuratively, as in being chosen or thought of for a task or even just “included”. I know that as humans, we sometimes have a tendency to feel that our capabilities or feelings are useless and that no one cares or notices. I’ve felt this way before…trust me…I have.
In this moment of “in my feelingsness” (don’t judge my word), God kindly reminded me of Joseph. Now, Mr. Joseph Jacob’s Son (that’s his full name) was in prison (read Genesis chapter 39 to find out why. And if you’re really feeling fancy, read chapter 37 to get the low down of why 39 happened) and he interpreted dreams. So, two of the prisoners (formerly the king’s chief baker and chief butler) had dreams and Joseph told them what each meant. Well, long story short (in case you hadn’t noticed that I thoroughly condensed it), one was executed (the baker) and the other (the butler) returned to the king’s castle. Joseph asked him to “remember” him when he was in the presence of the king. Have you ever felt like this? You just want someone to remember you in a critical time…one that you believe could change your life for the better? Or just your day…an hour…a moment….?
Alright, so, years went by and Joseph just knew he’d been forgotten, even though he had helped this guy out. I mean, he REALLY helped this guy out! So…mmmkay…we gotta go to chapter 41…short version again. The king had a series of dreams that really disturbed him. Nobody could figure out what they meant…not his magicians…not his wise men…NOBODY! Okay…enter the butler (dude that made it back into the castle), he FINALLY remembered Joseph. Now, the butler tells the king about what Joseph had done for him (short version 😉 Read all about it…Genesis 41:9-45). Joseph was released, spoke with the king, interpreted his dreams and was made governor over Egypt. “And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.” (Genesis 41: 39-40)
Soooooo…my point (you know I have one): Well, your name WILL come up at the perfect time because God ordained it that way. Had the butler mentioned him sooner, the king would have been like “And, so what, I don’t really care about your friend!” Heck, he may have been in a bad mood and had him killed just for the mention. So, yeah, don’t be discouraged (even though it feels like the game of dodge ball where everyone gets picked BUT YOU). God has the perfect time for you to get in the game! Stop waiting around for a “friend” to push you to the top…God wants ALL the glory! Don’t doubt Him…trust Him AND His timing. It’s perfect……
Love y’all!
