So……today, I was getting ready to watch Finding Nemo (yes!) on VHS (I still have VHS movies) and after the previews were over, a movie “short” came on (it’s called “Knick Knack” and it’s on YouTube…it’s by Pixar and you should watch after you’ve finished reading this). You know, those little cartoons before the actual movie starts? Well…anyhoo…there

You see, often times, we are like this snowman. The snow globe was his place of residence…his safe haven…his location…and he wanted out of it. How many times do we look outside of where we are called to be to go after something that we probably shouldn’t have in the first place. It could be a relationship, a job, material things……whatever. It looks good and it…he, she, they…call us, beckon for us. We then try breaking our way out of where we are and fall into an unfavorable situation. In attempts not to be utterly defeated, we make this place seem as though it looks and feels better because we find that one thing, like the mermaid, that makes it that much more worth while even though, we’re actually still trapped. See, the snowman couldn’t get out of the tank either but because of that one thing, he forgot all about the downside. And just like this snowman, we get stuck! Stuck in a situation that we had no place being a part of…all because we weren’t satisfied…we couldn’t wait until it was “our turn”…we looked across the way and decided that what was over there was better than what we had. We then fool ourselves into thinking that we’re doing okay. Ultimately, the snowman didn’t get what he wanted…he didn’t even get what he was willing to settle for.
We have got to learn that the grass is NOT always greener on the other side…it is greener where you water it. Or like the snowman, it’s not always better outside of our own element. It is necessary that we learn the difference between what we WANT and what we NEED because if we’re not careful, we’ll convince ourselves that those wants are a priority…pushing the needs to the back burner. This causes us to lack. The best way to figure all of this out is to seek God! He is the ultimate GPS system. He can guide us even on our most cloudy of days. And only He can free us to the point that we never get trapped in that “snow globe” again.
Seek God and not only will He will show you the way but He will satisfy you!
“But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.” Deuteronomy 4: 29
“For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.” Psalms 48:14
“And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.” Isaiah 58:11
“Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Psalms 37:4
Gotta go…it’s definitely past my bedtime! So I have to, as my dad would say, “sleep fast”
Love you all!
