The ideal woman…right?!? I mean you just can’t get much better…right?!? The Bible says that “her price is far above rubies.” But even before rubies are sold, they must be polished, cleaned, heated, and so on.
I’ve met women or seen many bios, profiles, of women who aspire to be or proclaim to be the perfect Proverbs 31 woman waiting for her Boaz to come rescue her from this cold, cruel world. I’m sure that’s a good thing…I guess. I’ve never been one to dwell much on being such but more so on being better than I was. Not to discredit the scripture in anyway…which I never could…but it seems to have been turned in to a cliché so to speak. I mean…it’s talking about the “Virtuous Wife” so we are obviously putting out there how good of a woman/wife we would be. We hype it up so much that we forget to be other things too.
We have to first be the virtuous single woman before we can be anybody’s wife. We have to have a full on relationship with God before he entrusts us to become any man’s wife. Proverbs 31 is good…it’s great…it’s wonderful but I want to be the woman that prays because she loves God. I want to be the one that will go on a fast because she knows it’s the only way to get things done. I want to be the one that gets lost in worship for myself.
How about we try to be the 1 Thessalonians 4 woman and abstain from sexual immorality and keep myself pure before the Lord. The 1 Peter 2 woman because we’ve been called out and God has had mercy on us. I pray to be the James 1 woman and endure temptation…the James 4 woman that submits herself to God so that the devil flees and that draws near to God so He draws near to me. I’d love to be known as being a 2 Timothy 2 woman and “endure hardship as a good soldier.” I want to be a woman of 2 Corinthians 10 that is prepared to war in the spirit. I long to be a Romans 12 woman and present my body as “a living sacrifice” to God. These are only among the countless other scriptures that need to be applied.
I just feel like I must “be” before I “become.” I can only speak for myself…but there must be a process in order to have progress. I have go grow and progress in the things of God. A Proverbs 31 woman is so much more than being a “good” woman. We can’t forget that. I’m not saying that it’s not a good way to be, I’m just saying that that our focus should be on God Himself. The word virtuous means having or showing high moral standards. When we apply the scriptures that make us that woman, our standards can grow higher than the six inches we wear on our feet.
My thoughts…
Yours Truly…
