Hey y’all! Happy Friday Eve!!!!!!!
Okay…so, my mom is in town and she brought my bruder’s (yes, bruder) kiddos to visit. They fly from out west to visit us for the summer. My mumzie wanted to go hang out at a couple stores while the kiddos stayed at my house with me today……No problem! I’m a professional aunt…I have references. 😉
Anyhoo…they’ve ALL (3 of them…11, 7, 2) been up for about 2 hours now and they have been a band, sang, played hide n seek, and talked REALLY loudly. NONSTOP!!! This kind of carrying on doesn’t bother me. In fact, I’m pretty much immune to it….unbothered by it. Not sure when or how I developed this AMAZING characteristic, but it comes in handy ALL THE TIME; especially since I work with children. I often get asked, by other adults, “how are you NOT bothered by all this noise????” My answer is usually, “I guess I’m immune to it.” It genuinely doesn’t bother me….as long as they’re playing nicely and nobody is getting hurt. I have had times when I felt like I should be bothered, because everyone else is, but I have ultimately decided that it’s a gift from God and I’m fine with being able to block it out.
I cleaned my house, read, listened to my worship music, and just sat, all as they entertained each
other. And I was UNBOTHERED!
Now…..what does ANY of this have to do with you??? Well, as usual, I’m SO GLAD you were wondering. I’m sure there have been times, and there will be more times, when you seem to be caught in noise….or storms that won’t seem to end. They seem to go NONSTOP!!! Just like these kiddos. Well, that is prime time for you to allow God to grant you His peace. He will give you a peace that nobody, not even you, will be able to comprehend. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
There will be times when you feel as though you should be bothered by all the chaos because EVERYONE else is. Don’t give in to these feelings. Accept the fact that God CHOOSES to keep you calm when you otherwise would be losing your natural born mind. “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3 There will be times, IF you trust God, that it will be SO PEACEFUL that it’s scary. Lol. I know it sounds strange, but you know what I mean. When you give it to Jesus….I mean, REALLY GIVE IT TO JESUS….He makes things alright that, I’m pretty sure, shouldn’t be alright. 1 Peter 5:7 (I’ve been quoting this scripture a lot…can you tell it’s a fave???) says “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” The amplified Bible reads this way, “casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].” Now, when put that way, it makes me want to just sit back and put my feet up. He cares for us THAT MUCH!
David says in Psalms 107:29, “He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.” Wow! Only God can calm a storm like this. So, LET HIM! Let Him calm your storms…it’s okay NOT to worry. It’s perfectly fine not to sit and think over and over how you will make the chaos stop. In fact, I encourage you to just rest in Jesus and allow Him to make you “immune” to the noise of life. It’s so much better this way….trust me….no…TRUST HIM!
